That’s an interesting zero-effort way to farm clicks… I guess coming up with some actual clickbait to boost engagement was too much work?
Hyrule, preferably the version from Breath of the Wild. I mean, yes there is the whole Ganon thing and one shouldn’t go too close to the castle, but the rest of the kingdom is pretty chill, and apparently you can make an easy living by just lazy foraging in the countryside, or by selling a handful of acorns and bugs at random stables, or by growing a grand total of eight pumpkins.
I’ll take a life as a homeless but well-fed drifter on horseback anytime over … this. gestures vaguely at the current state of the world
I just absolutely hate being a man in a “what role men have in society”-way.
I know exactly what you mean. A lot of random nonsense is seen as “unmanly” for no particular reason. I’ve seen grown ass men throw temper tantrums about doughnuts with pink glaze, because it is apparently uNmAnLy to even touch one, as if you would get a visit from the man police and they revoke your man card for even contemplating touching something in a “girly” color. It’s just complete and utter nonsense.
It is a lot healthier to not give a flying fuck about gender roles - but also harder, depending on the society you live in. I have the luxury of being a big, bearded dude so not many people dare to openly mock me when I do “unmanly” stuff - I let my niece paint my nails whenever she wants. I cry when movies get emotional. The last dog I owned was a mini pinscher, and I still miss her. I don’t like beer, cars, football/soccer/whatever. I bake and cook and I can get real passionate about it. I still own my first ever plushie.
…but I also have a bunch of friends who have been relentlessly bullied for similar stuff, gaslighted into believing that they deserved it for not being manly enough. And it breaks my heart every time I hear yet another story of someone killing their own passion, numbing themselves down to the point that they become unable to enjoy what they formerly loved, just to “fit in” a society that doesn’t accept deviation from the perceived norm.
Fuck gender roles in general. All they do is make people miserable for not fitting in.
EDIT: The above statement is not meant to bash trans folk by the way. What I dislike are the expectations tied to certain societal “roles” and the almost automatic ostracisation by “the society” if someone isn’t fulfilling enough of those expectations. Let people be who they want to be.
And one for flinching! bap bap bap
Not sure if that really counts as “a game” for this community, but I reactivated my old Neopets account after a long hiatus. The site is still broken AF but just as fun as I remembered, and there is talk of an upcoming plot across the boards.
Nice ^^ I’m looking forward to it.
You know a dad joke is a good dad joke when you angrily groan while being compelled to still upvote it.
I always called it “clutter” tho I don’t know whether this is in any way official. De-cluttering an inventory means tossing the useless stuff out or packing it away.
My personal pet peeve is pre-installed, un-removable software and apps. My current mobile phone for example has apps that link to twitter, facebook, amazon etc. none of which I will ever use, but you can somehow not delete them. Why do I need to have that virtual junk in my phone?
In Germany, pretty much every supermarket has 2 special bins near the entrance, one for lightbulbs and one for batteries. Maybe there’s something similar in your area?
Otherwise I’d check with shops or hardware stores that sell these and/or a local electrician how they dispose of these and whether they’d be willing to take yours as well.
Triceratops already means “Three-Horned Face” =P It’s just Greek instead of Latin.
When I had to move out (long, unpleasant story) I had the opportunity to get a nice, cozy appartement with low rent almost immediatly, but during the interview it turned out that they didn’t allow pets and wouldn’t budge, so it wasn’t an option for me and I politely declined.
They still tried to pressure me into signing the rental contract - calling me multiple times a day to ask whether I wanted to rethink my former decision again, eventually giving me a 24 hour deadline and demanding that I sign ASAP or they would pick someone else. That was the point I told them to go F- themselves as I was NOT going to leave my 13 year old tomcat behind or surrender him to a shelter. They didn’t take it well. (…and suddenly they claimed that noone else wanted the appartement and that they desperately needed someone to move in very soon yadda yadda … so much for “we’re going to pick someone else if you don’t sign today”.)
Best decision I’ve made that year. The landlord I have now is a super chill dude and I still have my spoiled furry little bastard with me. I’d rather have lived on the street than leaving a four-legged family member behind.
No idea what became of the other appartement but I pity the people who will have to put up with that passive-aggressive nonsense for lack of alternatives.
f I created a community, would I become it’s (lone) moderator automatically?
Yes. But you can also immediatly appoint new mods and/or un-mod yourself if there are other mods present, so it is easy to give a community away when there are other interested users. It’s not a permanent thing.
What consequences, requirements and things would I need to keep in mind as a moderator?
Your community needs to be compatible wih the Fediverse Code of Conduct … but that boils down to “don’t be a dick and don’t post illegal stuff” which is pretty much just common sense. It’s not exactly hard to follow those rules ;)
Apart from that, you can set whatever rules you want. But keep in mind that the Fediverse is still a lot smaller than reddit, so if you are TOO niche / narrow / strict with the rules, you’ll have a hard time finding people who want to engage with your community. General, broad-themed communities with easy-to-follow rules have a bigger chance to thrive.
… and a personal little tip: don’t slam down the ban hammer at every opportunity. As a mod you are able to ban, silence, remove or otherwise “punish” people for bad behaviour, but that doesn’t mean that you have to do that. It’s a lot better to give users the benefit of the doubt, explain instead of punish (as they might not be aware that they did something bad in the first place), and give them a reasonable chance to fix their mistakes on their own before taking action. Post removal, bans and the like should be reserved solely for when the user in question is unwilling to cooperate OR did something obviously super shitty (like threatening other users, using slurs, posting illegal stuff etc.)
Is it advisable to copy-paste content from Reddit to kickstart new communities (given that the link source to the original content was added as well when making new posts)?
Well … as a last resort, yes. Original content or stuff from non-reddit sources is always preferable as it gives users of the Fediverse an incentive to visit communities here instead of going to reddit, but copypasted content is still better than no content at all, so if you can’t find interesting / worthwile stuff elsewhere, then copypasting from reddit is okay-ish too.
OC is still way better tho.
This is absolutely inacceptable! Placing avocados that close to tomatoes and bananas will make them over-ripe way too fast. Sheesh!
But at least they have proper pest control, tho it appears to be in energy saving mode.
The Hisuian regional forms are sadly not compatible with SwoSh. I just tested it via Pokémon Home but it wouldn’t let me transfer any regional forms to my playthrough in Sword.
More and more relevant by every passing day …
Have you tried vinegar and baking soda? Those are basically the default at-home stench-and-stain removers any household should have.
Same with guest rooms. In my area, almost all “old” houses have a room that is kept neat and tidy but unused until guests come over - basically wasted space specifically reserved for other people not living under that roof. And the boomers here get confused about why newer houses (especially rental appartements) don’t have that oh-so-important feature anymore.
Imagine an entire effing room and everything in it (furniture included) getting the “fine china” treatment and old people being offended that “the youth today” has the audacity to invite guests into the regular boring non-special living room.
IIRC chain fishing and pokéradar also had pretty decent shiny odds in that gen, but from personal experience I have to agree with Yokozuna that hordes are still better to find specific shinies - and they feel more “natural” as well, compared to the other two methods.
