They address your point in the article. The protections you speak of, that workers fought hard for, do not always or often extend to pregnant mothers.
I heard her talking about it on NPR earlier today. She did get her kid back, but it was a whole fucking ordeal she and her family should have never had to go through in the first place (and thank god she had the resources to fight it)
Also that Seinfeld episode.
There are some times when i believe i’m only as old as i feel. And there are other times when i realize i’m actually just Abe Simpson with an onion still on my belt yelling at clouds.
Get a skein of medium-weight yarn in a light color (it’s easier to see what you’re doing) and whatever the recommend hook size it says on the label. Then watch some tutorials for basic stitches. I’d start making a little pot holder kinda thing with double or half-double crochet stitch. It’s small enough that you can get used to turning rows, and it’ll work up pretty fast with the medium weight yarn to give you some nice dopamine when you finish.
I would definitely recommended learning with just regular yarn, nothing fancy, until you get used to it. Yarn with lots of variability in the weight (as i expect plastic bags would have) is going to be difficult if you’re not comfortable with the basics.
The palantiri (plural) were made by the elves during the First Age when they lived with the Valar (gods), so yes they were made during a golden age long ago. They were gifted to men of Numenor who remained loyal to the Valar and Iluvatar (The God) and kept friendship with the elves. This was during a time (Second Age) in which the rulers of Numenor were being hostile to the elves, disrespectful towards the Valar, and just generally being assholes. The elves gave the palantiri to the “Faithful” of Numenor so they could still communicate with each other despite the opressive politics on the island. Elendil, fore-father of Aragorn, took them (and a fruit that grew into the White Tree of Gondor) when he fled Numenor for Middle Earth. (Elendil’s son, Isildur, is the one that cut the ring from Sauron’s hand.)
But the palantiri were not corruption artifacts. They are seeing stones. The “corruption” you see in the movies is not inherent in the stones. It is simply that Sauron has a stone also, and you really don’t want him to get inside your head.
Would two snakes on an ambulance be acceptable? They’re kind of like couriers of the sick and injured.
dammit, franklin! i told you to lay off the beans!
deck game-specific settings:
in-game settings:
For some graphically-intensive builds or that one map in the swampy area that i cannot for the life of me maintain 40fps, i turn the resolution down in-game (but still fullscreen) and use the deck’s FSR at max sharpness, though this does make text a little hard to read, so i try to avoid it. I can generally get away with tdp limit of 10-12W too.
i play exclusively on the steam deck and am happy with the performance
I think that’s one of the theories for explaining dark matter (i personally like the idea because it can also possibly address why gravity seems to be so much weaker of a fundamental force, but i’m a chemist, not a physicist, so take that with a grain of salt).
We actually kinda do perceive a fourth dimension: time. Sure, we infer it from our memories and come up with cause and effect relationships to help us understand it. But we do know it’s there.
i do this all the time. when i get close to finishing the game, i HAVE to go do all the side quests i neglected to finish along the way. Then i get burned out and beforei do the final boss… But my SO has similar video game tastes as me, so i end up just watching him do the final boss on his save hahaha
Sometimes i’ll do this in the winter. We try to minimize heat/AC energy usage, and i get cold easily, so once i’m in the nice warm shower it takes a minute to work up the courage to make the mad dash to get my clothes back on lol
For real. I’m over here having a mid-life crisis since I was 27.
i’m a big fan of “hectomillionaires” (the term, not the system that allows hectomillionaires to exist to the detriment of us all, of course)
unlike that window…
OH! I see it! It’s a little guy saluting
I want a physical keyboard again. I cam’t type on these damn tochscreen buttona. They’re too small and i canct tell which keya i’m toiching.
