2·4 hours agoConversely, if you file small claims against a large corporation, chances are they won’t show up and you’ll win by default. But yeah it would take more time than it’s worth. So really it would only be out of spite.

I can’t stop laughing at this comment. I think that’s what we all did!
Why in the hell would they make something people want?
Personally, I’m saving up for the “Apple Stick and Bindle”, the nouveau-hobo accessory of the season.

Technology@lemmy.world•Passkeys Explained: The End of PasswordsEnglish
71·6 days agoMy company’s online product uses passkeys (I implemented it) more as a convenience method for login. 2FA is the base standard, and authenticated users can create a passkey for each device they want to use. Subsequent logins can then use the passkey or 2FA. Rather than having to dig out my phone, open the authenticator app, and put in the digits, I can simply use the fingerprint reader and I’m right in.

4·11 days agoIt’s one of their best features. No ads being the best, since that also means you get real results and no “sponsored” bullshit. They also have ai slop filters.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Maybe there was a cure for human cancer, but it didn't work at all in mice.
17·13 days agoThe whole concept of “curing cancer” is such a trope. Cancer is a condition, and it annoys the fuck out of me that people treat it as one disease like measles or the flu.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Over the past ~20 years, Google became the de facto entry point for learning new skills and information. Google also sucks now. This is a really big problem.
2·13 days agoThis one blog post (which is clearly a personal vendetta) is always cited when people dislike Kagi. The product itself is fantastic, and the optional AI-ish features are optional and not shoved in your face. As a subscriber, I get a yearly questionnaire sent to me which polls for customer priorities, areas for improvement, and general comments. I gladly fill it out every time, and this year I said “re-focus on search, the core product. Stop spreading resources so thinly.” I know I’m not the only one answering this way lately.
There will always be haters of a company and personal beefs which inform that. Vlad is no saint but he’s honest and direct. He believes in providing a great service and it’s worth every penny I pay for it. That can change in the future and I would rethink my stance; in the meantime, I pay for a product I like and use all the time.

8·13 days agoThat’s a pretty good Black Mirror plot, it would be hilarious. Too bad the current “AI” isn’t even capable of math.

61·14 days agoI’m getting pretty convinced that as people get older, they get more selfish. The evidence is all anecdotal for me, but perhaps the mentality of “I don’t have much time left, better get mine” creeps in for those who aren’t satisfied with what they have. (Which, of course, is doubly so for those who were already selfish)
But yeah that propaganda “news” is a powerful bitch.

It was just so boring. I only lasted like 5 hours before giving up. Such a shame.
