Recently became sous chef at the kitchen I work in. Constantly felt like I wasn’t good enough and so I’ve been putting more responsibility on myself to make sure things are done correctly.

Yesterday I coordinated our mother’s day buffet and it went perfectly. No hiccups, no running out of items. Even got acknowledged by my chef for doing such a good job. Felt pretty great.

This whole thing just reminds me of Fahrenheit 451.

The main character Guy Montague was being chased by the police but they couldn’t find him so they shot down an innocent person that they labeled the suspect so the populace wouldn’t see the police as incompetent.

People always bring up 1984 but they need to read and bring up Fahrenheit 451.

I’m just bringing up the double standard. You’re correct in your assumption that I don’t want ANY genitals being mutilated.

But it’s not patriarchal that circumcision is normalized for aesthetical reasons. Women circumcise their sons because they don’t like uncut penises. I’ve NEVER heard a man say anything like that outside of not wanting their child to feel different because other boys are all circumcised. Women do it for aesthetics. Men do it because of a fear of being different. There’s a difference.

It shouldn’t be done at all but the idea that uncut penises look gross is inherently a woman thing.

It’s ironic because the whole reason I’m even here on lemmy is because I was permabanned from reddit for telling someone to crawl back in their hole because they were defending circumcision while claiming female genital mutilation was abhorrent. As if mutilating a penis is perfectly fine but don’t dare mutilate a vulva.

I know this isn’t the main topic here but it just reminds me that body shaming men is okay but body shaming women isn’t. Especially when it comes to sex organs.

But I can still access all of reddit. I just can’t comment or upvote/downvote anything. And the nsfw instance of lemmy is a shit show of having to constantly block the same content over and over because there’s eleventy billion versions of the same community.

They held my high school diploma for 6 months because I had $20 dollar deficit.

I was recently talking to my boss about some storms that were coming through. I said there were tornado watches in place. He said “Yeah but how common are tornadoes in ohio?”. I replied “I’ve driven through two in the past 3 years.”

Yeah it wasn’t capitalists that gave me this mindset. It was researching human history. And it’s completely filled with slavery, racism, unnecessary wars, torture, religious persecution, the list is damn near endless.

If humans are so easily swayed to abhorrent violence then at a certain point you have to realize it’s our nature. Peace is just something wishful people dream of.

Humans have been dog shit from the beginning. Always at war, multiple genocides, constant ethnic cleansings, torture en masse, all of these things have been prevalent in all of recorded history.

As bad as capitalism is it’s just another example of humanities inability to just be fucking decent to each other.

Had a dvd player that would skip all the time even if it was a brand new dvd. Got pissed off and threw it at the wall. Girlfriend plugged it back in a couple hours later and it never skipped again.
