I’ve only seen bows on chairs at wedding receptions. Not my taste for a wedding. Definitely not my taste for my dining room.

It’s baffling isn’t it?! It looks like a decent sized space but it would be so depressing to sit in!
Love, laugh, WASH.
Do you know what the sand from elafonissi beach (Crete) looks like under a microscope? It really does look pinky when you’re there, and I was told it was because of a certain type of seashell that made up the majority of the top sand. I was a kid though, definitely could have been lies.
Thank you for that! It was really interesting and informative, I appreciate the time it took. I have a vague idea that civil litigation is pursued largely out of the principle of the matter, and that’s fine if you’re a billionaire suing for a dollar… but these women weren’t rich and no doubt incurred debt by having to move/go into hiding, when they did absolutely nothing wrong. I feel like they should get a couple of million right now - enough to clear their debts, pay off the house/car and have a long holiday. As scummy as those lenders sound, maybe that’s the best move for these claimants, especially the older one. I think I’d rather have a couple of mil now than fight (probably unsuccessfully) for £70m each over the next decade.
Can anyone with experience/knowledge of these types of cases hazard a guess to how much the claimants might realistically receive and in what sort of timeframe?
And if Rudy doesn’t pay up in his lifetime, could the money be seized from probate?
Final one! If the claimants aren’t likely to see any money for a few years, are they at least able to secure loans against the ruling immediately?
I’m overly annoyed by that mirror placement.
Sorry, I confused myself and thought you were replying to a later comment - I thought you were asking how people would have guessed JK Rowling and JK Galbraith were the same person.
I think it’s fair to say Robert Galbraith-Heath is an (in)famous psychiatrist. I remember his name from my student days. As for her purposely using the name of a conversion therapist as a pen name in order to… be more homophobic? That seems like a bit of a leap to me, but idk her bigoted views in any real depth tbh.
And I looked up the other name before I realised I’d confused myself and found there was a famous JK Galbraith too, according to wikipedia He sounds like a bit of a dick too. Sorry for the confusion, I need sleep.
Can you think of another author who uses JK before their surname? It would have been a pretty big hint as soon as people realised JK Galbraith didn’t exist.
It’s British slang for a convict or prison term. It’s not very common now, but “old lag” used to mean a habitual criminal. No idea of the etymology though - maybe related to a lag (in time)?
Candles around the bath! One behind my head got a bit out of control and caught the bath pillow. It was made from something super flammable (or inflammable?) so it went up quickly. It singed a few hairs and the pillow was ruined, but no injuries or damage otherwise!
I set my bath pillow on fire once - while I was in the bath. I was well impressed with my quick thinking just to yank in down into the bathwater to put it out. My partner was too unimpressed with my stupidity/carelessness to appreciate my quick reflexes!
Mildew-y
Bonus! One brave kitty goes exploring. How old do you think that little guy is? 6 weeks?
It’s fine by me - thanks for the link. There’s actually a McMansion Hell community here too: https://sh.itjust.works/c/mcmansionhell
I’ve had 6 covid vaccinations and I’m still not protected. It’s not a case of “having the chance to get sufficiently vaccinated” if the vaccines don’t work on your immunosuppressed body, or if you can’t have the vaccine at all.
It’s unbelievably selfish to go out when you know you have covid. How hard is it to stay home for 5 days or so when you test positive ffs?! The fact that you don’t think staying home for a few days is “justified” when you literally risk killing someone vulnerable by not isolating is frankly shameful.
In the UK “toilets under the stairs” are quite common, both my childhood houses had one. They’re converted from old school larders so they’re tiny, and I’m sure neither had a 15” gap before the sink.
You have a wonderful way with words!
I fucking love it! I thought my ultimate 70s boudoir had won the community, but this is way funnier!!
Edit: wtf is that in the corner underneath him?!
This is far too small and standard British working class to be a McMansion. I do love that sub though. There’s one on lemmy too: !mcmansionhell@sh.itjust.works
