Same mate, I was waiting for our traditional European summer heat wave and the Indians and Americans took it all for them :(

EFHK, Helsinki Vantaa runway 15.
OH-LWL Airbus A350-900 is coming home from somewhere probably hotter.
You can see this tower here on gmap
It seems to be a primary radar for ground traffic.
From that angle, OP worked an early shift on the airport, nice shot sir !
(You can see the rwy 15 and YB taxiway junction on the photo and on this chart)
I’m European and I have mixed feelings about the US.
There are some great sceneries, nice peoples and my accent does wonders there. I like its smaller towns and countryside.
But at the same I hate its cities. You can see the most widen gap between poverty and absurdly rich peoples in the same street. You can have a wonderful avenue and once in the back alley it looks like third world. I’ve never seen that many weird people than in the us. There’s too much violence and capitalism. And don’t get me on the fucking tipping culture.
Can you please tell me about that obsidian, google and cloud relationship ? Cause I don’t know anything about that and I’m curious.
I don’t use any cloud except my own, self hosting FTW!
I am not sure what you’re working on but from your answers I’ve read you seems to need access to a lot of information with a few keystrokes, like searching for a keyword or tag.
In my opinion you are using the wrong tool for that. Ditch the browser and learn about the Zettelkasten way of working. It is really powerful for plenty of applications like science, studies, dev, or even the way I use it, author repository of ideas/concepts/stuff I need when writing a book.
You can do that with several software but I like obsidian for that (and because of all its plugins you could probably find something to automatically copy webpage content)
On the downside side :
But on the plus size :
I tried it for sleeping but ultimately I ended up preferring the Bose sleepbuds, or their new version now called Ozlosleep.
Probably one of the best investment in my life.
Also the fact that the shop where I’ve done the molded ear plugs keeps trying to call me for telemarketing twice a year does not help…
I’ve read it was just to shit with Microsoft by announcing that computers were tools of the past for gaming AND non gaming (and earn money).
Pushing Microsoft to invest billions to develop the Xbox on Windows (which ultimately did not run on windows) to shit with Sony, and earn money…
Amen brother.
I’ll buy a 13’’ iPad Pro right now if it could do all those “non-mobile OS” things for a perfect small productivity machine.
Hell, I’ll even buy the official pen, keyboard and the non-existent docking station for office use.
What we really want to know is which country has the most use of the eggplant emoji 🍆
The things I have seen or read on 4chan… I avoid that place since then.
Iceshrimp, a mastodon fork, and a little bit of matrix. I’d like to have a look at pixelfed one of those day just to see if it seems a successful alternative to youknowwhat.
I solved that problem by using a tiling window manager on every OS. Configure it to use your favorite shortcuts (from i3wm in this case), put super + spacebar as the whatever launcher you like and tadaaaa!
Everything feels more or less the same.
I do that since I became addicted to i3wm years ago. The worst part is just remembering the keywords to type in the launcher according to what OS you’re on.
Yeah it looked a lot like the first picture in the Wikipedia article.
I don’t remember the game but I couldn’t understand shit as well nor the graphic style.
An arcade center VR headset.
This was in the 90s or early 2000 when VR was non existent to consumers. During holidays visiting the US we ended up in this arcade center, probably in LA, where they had circled booths with an old FPS VR game that you play standing up. The headset looked like a helmet and was plugged from the top.
During my game, I turned on myself (360 no scope style) so much and always in the same direction that the cables got tangled and finally broke, probably with a little spark and some electrical sound. Game over.
As a French preteen, my English was bad and all I remember is the “shiiiiiiit” the worker said when he looked at the headset and cables.
Sorry buddy 🤷🏻♂️
You’re welcome mon ami !
What are they going to do, force us to have babies?
According to the Handmaid’s Tale (which seems to be their user manual) they will either kill us or send us to forced labor camps as we are useless to the holy demography.
The official Spotify Video Games Soundtrack as been my go to for commuting this past month(s).
Ah ok, mine have Switzerland and other non EU (but close) countries.
While it is historically true, carriers cannot charge foreign fees for EU members since some time now. They basically said to the carriers “now you stop being greedy fucks”.
Since then the European Union is just one large country phone fees wise. Even non EU member Switzerland is included on the EU plan and Switzerland includes Europe as if it is national call/text.
But it was too late indeed, people were already on WhatsApp to avoid sms.
The parliament is elected from the 577 “circonscriptions”, or small bit of continental and non continental France + French living abroad, as seen on this map. They represent all of France in front of the government, they vote for or against laws at a national level. They do not take care of any local politic.
Normally the parliament is elected every 5 years, a few weeks after the presidential election so the president can have a parliament on the same side as his.
But the among the president powers, he can dissolve the parliament, so those 577 deputies are sent home and a new election takes place. It is usually done to have the same political party everywhere so passing new laws is easy.
As the government (prime minister and ministers) generally comes from the most represented party in the parliament, if the majority shifts to another party then the prime minister have to resign (all his ministers are included) and a new government will be made from the new majority (in today’s case, the left, even if the president is central-right).
The president have to wait one year before dissolving the parliament again. So he could technically dissolve it again until the next presidential election in 2027.
So for today it means that the PM and his government have to resign (which is done). The president will then have to choose a new PM from the leading party at the parliament (left Front Populaire) and will have to work with a government not agreeing with him.
It is named a cohabitation, between a right side president and left side government, which by itself is not such a big deal as countries like Switzerland works like that, a perpetual compromise between various political views. But France (or US, or ???) is not used to that, so this could lead to a government achieving nothing cause every political side will vote laws according to their own views and nothing is accepted.
