  • I’ve been incredibly broke before and I think it’s different kind of protective. I’m frugally protective at trying to keep something working but that’s a different kind of possesive.

Of course you will care about food when you are starving. And you won’t care about scraps and leftovers when you are not.

But like that was a change of not being afraid to lose something you can rebuy. I’m sure their is plenty of non disposable items that you would have and ideals that you hold onto as truths about yourself. And im sure you don’t viewing housing and transportation as disposable.

  • Yeah I think they misunderstood what was happening cause they were getting wealthier as they got older.

Honestly, you just become more protective of your stuff and things you consider yours as you get older.

There are plenty of nerds that are super conservative about their fandoms and what is allowed to happen with them and same for all kinds of niches but the idea we would get more conservative with money really assumed we would accumulate more of it and assets. But what people do have is their apps and thoughts and those… Those people will be just as conservative as the boomers are about their money as they get older.

  • Telling people that if they don’t vote with you they shouldn’t vote at all is pretty telling of who you are and what you want. You said it above and you barely have changed your stance to hide your disdain.

And now you saying people can only other vote for Trump since he’s the other representative of a deeply problematic 2 party system?

If people want to voice their displeasure but not necessarily achieve something, I’m not yelling at people that they are worth less than nothing when they do it. And I definitely don’t want to push the idea that Republicans have to only vote Trump because it’s his party.

  • Well only true if they weren’t a Trump supporter voting 3rd party.

People walking out of his rallies and falling asleep at them does not help Trump.

I get that Harris is the only person with the current backing up there to win properly against him this election but if you literally take a look at your math there and say someone that votes third party would be better by not voting at all you are just trying to silence people that disagree with you rather than let them have any voice.

Voting for third party when they wouldn’t have voted at all is not the same as helping Trump and you need to stop being so scared of Trump you keep bullying those that would with that false equivalent.

  • Not them but I think the answer is very obviously “not Trump”.
Everyone should vote for “Not Trump” and it seems that more people agree than not when even his own party wanted a guy with former brain parasites than him.

There is really some lamenting though that the bar is set so low and the Democrats seem to be happy to not even try to jump over it but take the win on not being Trump.

It could be an amazing strategy to run on a platform of helping and pushing change instead of telling tired people they will keep things the same.

Its obvious it needs to be “Not Trump”. But I wouldn’t expect people to be happy about voting for the equivalent of the 2000 Republican Party in spirit here in 2024 when people not wanting that anymore is how the Republicans got Trump in the first place. People are gonna get burnt out and disenfranchised on no change.
It doesn’t mean they are right to burn it all down but people commit suicide for shitty reasons too.

  • Make your point then and make it factual? Cause so far you have said America doesn’t have immigration to fall back on which it does in spades even though I agree it looks like, and is in all practicality, slave labor.

Then said, incorrectly, Chinese immigrants worked in mines and used unrelated other slave labor immigration as whataboutisms.

The point was that America can sell the idea of itself to keep import of cheap labor high and you have wafted about without a point just yelling at people about all the things you think are wrong with the world and nitpicking, poorly, other people.

You don’t stay on topic and you basically don’t have a point other than be angry. If you have a point make it. If you want to be angry and rant then fine but be honest about it and just be angry and rant.

You get yelled at because you slip off topic to sputter out a “fact” that you think wins an argument while it being tangentially related and off topic. Your dog dying is not a good excuse for failing gym class. Yes it’s sad. But it’s not the point.

Take this as a learning moment from someone that agrees with you and won’t back down at telling you, find a different way to talk to people.

This “holier than thou” shtick where you say random factoids as a way to feel superior in a conversation ain’t doing you favors and isn’t accomplishing anything other than stroking yourself out. And it’s fine if you want to do that but do it in private. We don’t need to see you jacking off your ego.

  • Oh it’s awful but I’m saying people are paying the privilege to be treated like shit in the US cause it’s “better” than their crumbling local country or beats the idea of their false impression of their crumbling country of origin.

I didn’t brag about it. But the US sure does have this happening at a rate hard to be ignored.

I mean I literally used an example that is historically known to have been basically a scam to import cheap labor and you still got defensive and hostile.

Your need to be right will kill any conversation you are part of.
