You’re good to go.
As long as posts aren’t ads disguised as posts, and it’s EDC related, there’s no problem.
Pocket dumps are nice, not mandatory.

Is this a joke?
I dunno, I was up and running in five minutes. You pick an instance, you sign up, you verify the email, and you’re good to go. What server doesn’t matter much, barring it closing unexpectedly and without warning. There’s not enough users to need more than a handful.
Liftoff recognizes more than just lemmy.world.
Go to the bottom right into profile. Upper right in the profile screen you’ll see a settings gear icon. Tap that, then select accounts.
From there, it should be pretty obvious. But, yeah, it would be nice if liftoff had a front facing accounts section like most of the others do. Great app though!
If you still don’t like it, connect and jerboa are currently the most reliable, with thunder being only a tad behind (but otherwise excellent) with tools g or, it was the last I checked yesterday, and I haven’t seen an update for it).
But, all of those support multiple accounts.
Not that you need multiple accounts. You can access all of lemmy and kbin from a single account. You just have to search for the community within an instance, and it’ll get pulled in if it isn’t already. But you have to search the !community@instance, or http://instance/c/community format if it isn’t already showing.
Community discovery can be a bit of a pain at times, but there’s lemmyexplorer that serves as a good source until lemmy itself has more time to develop
You gotta spread the word.
But, being real, it’s going to be slow. The nature of the beast with lemmy/kbin is that there’s a very long discovery process. So, not only do your have to spread awareness of your c/, you have to have those users be active on a lot of other ones, and feel motivated to share links on yours.
There’s the new communities c/ on lemmy.world (I think? Could be lemmy.ml, my brain is fried rn) though. It’s helped me discovery wise. And you can’t be afraid to do a little self hype. Like, when you find something to post on your magazine, tell/ask the person you’re borrowing from that you did so/want to. Provide a link to that bestof post as well.
Yeah, it’s shameless self promotion, but you won’t have to do it long, assuming the lemmy/kbin world stays steady.
Edit: make sure your link is formatted right for jerboa/app use as well.
Define reasonable.
That’s only part joke.
Why do these always exist before the internet? We can order bullion online now. It’s almost midnight in a fairly rural area
But yeah, I know a guy that will sell certain things for cash that normally require legal hurdles. But if you show up, cash in hand, he’ll backdate things on his end. One phone call, I could buy out his stock in fifteen minutes because I’m a regular customer he trusts. He’s usually got a few hundred thousand of goods in place.
Barring that, I’m kinda screwed at this time of night.
I know a couple of farmers that would let me buy livestock in cash like this, but that’s only going to be a few thousand bucks.
I know a weed dealer that would be able to give me a few pounds if he’s got it in, but I would have to call and ask how much he has.
Do services count? If so, I’ve got an idea for a cheat lol. Hire my wife for a back rub.
So, I just took a second and sent a text to an acquaintance and explained the scenario. Turns out you can buy a car in an hour or less. It’s just a matter of paperwork to make the sale official. So, if you know a car dealer, and they have enough on their lot, you could easily get rid of most of that million in time. Most of the time wasted isn’t really necessary. If the dealer and the buyer are already on the same page with the price, you could get as many cars as you have time to sign for.
As bat shit crazy as it sounds, I don’t. I let the name “come to me”, or wait for the critter to pick its name.
It isn’t literal woowoo hippy bullshit, but it looks like or when I try to explain it lol.
But it’s a matter of letting the subconscious mind have a chance to percolate with the personality and “nature” of the pet.
But it just kind of pops into my head at some point. Might be the second I meet the animal, might be weeks later. And it never fails me because when I let that happen, the animal immediately recognizes the name as theirs. That’s held true for anything but invertebrates and most fish, even a pissy iguana and an unusually smart oscar.
What sucks is that sometimes the name isn’t very cool lol. For every shaitan and samson, there’s a sugarplum and a cricket.
Eh, if it were easier to block an instance as a user, I’d be 100% with you instead of 95%.
There are instances that are batshit crazy. Since blocking an instance as a user just ain’t possible yet, I can see why defederation before trouble gets going is useful. Once the nasty side of the internet gets snowballing, it’s much harder to manage.
Troll, or serious extremist, some things are just cancerous.
Crikey! This heah sasquatch is a hairy bugger!
::: spoiler test testing
Aha! That got it. Three colons. Spoiler, then the text for the spoiler listing, an enter, n closing `::: and then it works. It doesn’t work without the enter before the spolied text, which is just confusing and annoying imo. The >! Markdown is so much better.
But! You can enter anything after the initial ::: spoiler
as the text to show before clicking
testing
It’s working on mobile browser for me, but not on jerboa. Jerboa doesn’t seem to recognize several markdown notations.
that’s a screenshot with the spoiler entry from the little triangle with an ! In it from the entry box
Edit: and the jerboa update didn’t bring full markdown support lol
It would be nice if employees would revolt as well. But I’m not ever going to push someone to risk their ability to support themselves when what’s going on is legal. This isn’t a government entity. It absolutely, 100% is not the same as nazis. That’s so hyperbolic as to be absurdist. The scale just isn’t remotely the same.
Besides, ranting at whatever admin desk jockey gets the shitty task of processing these copy/paste memos and dealing with the responses isn’t going to convince them of anything. Neither will rational arguments. They’re doing a shitty job, and either agree with him (meaning nothing we say has a point to begin with), or disagree and are having to face dissonance while trying to make a living.
The ones that disagree, if they’re handling this stuff, they feel like shit. I’ve been there, doing a job that I know isn’t right because of the way the company insists it be done (I worked in nursing homes at one point). That shit eats you up inside. They need, and deserve, a bit of kindness.
That’s what people forget online. That’s the ugly side of the internet in general, and reddit in particular. It it so hard to remember the human. Huffpig has decided to stop pretending he ever did, but that doesn’t mean we have to act like him.
I’m not even a nice person tbh. I’m old, I’m grumpy, and I have very little tolerance for stupidity. But I try to be better. And if we don’t all at least try, we are collectively fucked. Empathy is the key to doing better. Compassion is part of empathy.
Besides, if that admin was to ever, ever consider their role in this, don’t you think it would be kindness that would make them practice empathy and compassion? Kindness is just as contagious as cruelty.
I’m not seeing a problem with that statement
Even doing it by hand is a large outlay to get going, if you want to do anything beyond nailing two boards together.
Definitely interested, if beehaw is willing to open a new community while also adjusting to the influx.
Shit, I’ll moderate it if it will help it happen. I’m still not up to speed with lemmy, but the r/cptsd community is too damn important to not migrate (I lurked there, but it has pulled me through some very bad times)
If beehaw isn’t ready for new communities yet, we can find a spot somewhere, I’m sure. Or start using the one on lemmy.ml (or wherever it is)
It doesn’t take much. There’s no reports, and nobody has done anything to break rules.
Everything that went wrong with reddit turned me into a passive user. I scroll, but I rarely vote or comment.
Besides, I burnt all the bridges during the protests and by refusing to play nice afterwards. I couldn’t go back if I wanted to, not without jumping through hoops to make a new account and keep it isolated. Fuck reddit, fuck spez. And, fuck r/edc too. I did my best, it wasn’t good enough, so that’s that.
