I recently got into Oingo Boingo, but the subreddit is private.
I couldn’t find a good place to discuss them, so I made one.
By now, I think they’ve been around long enough that it’s just considered “wave”.
For a second I thought there was a new Oingo Boingo.
“Oingo Boingo” comes from an ancient Swahili dialect which means “thinking while dancing”.
Said Danny Elfman during an interview once. But in another interview I heard him saying it meant something completely different, something about hats.
Danny Elfman… mischievously unreliable narrator. You can’t just make up bands on Lemmy.
I thought they changed to Boingo a while back. Did they go back to their original names?
in 1994 the name was shortened to simply Boingo. The band retired after a farewell concert on Halloween 1995, for which they reverted to the name Oingo Boingo
Originally they were The Mystic Knights Of The Oingo Boingo. A little to big for a marquee
Hi there! Looks like you linked to a Lemmy community using a URL instead of its name, which doesn’t work well for people on different instances. Try fixing it like this: !oingoboingo@lemmy.world
