They don’t understand that when given the choice and enough Healthcare to make sure their babies live, women as a whole actually make some pretty sensible and even economically responsible choices about when to reproduce.

I vaguely remember a vlogbrothers thing where John went to see a new L&D facility in a developing area and one of the ways they knew the area was healing was that the mothers started naming their babies when they were born when they normally would have waited a year or two to see if it lived before getting too attached. I can only imagine what a difference that makes on a child’s health and development; one of the things they tell nurses to specifically check for at every well-baby appointment is that the mother (or other primary caregiver) is responding appropriately to the child’s distress by attempting to comfort it as opposed to becoming angry / aggressive or ignoring / being emotionally detached from the child.

In a lot of places in the world (and usually some of the better ones where people live longer, happier lives, being so detached from your infant that you won’t even name them would probably be considered a sign of post-partum depression.

That’s why in L&D and pediatrics classes they teach you that “If mom (/the primary caregiver) isn’t safe, baby isn’t safe.” You HAVE to care for the caregiver if you truly value the safety and health of children.

Man, feminism has really gone too far, eh?
