I agree to a point, I think some people would pick up the development. Idk if it’d be librewolf or if someone would fork off that, but if Firefox completely shit the bed I think someone would pick up the mantle a bit. We wouldn’t have nearly the release cadence of firefox though.

Entire tech industry is stupid right now. So many business bros trying to pump and dump for short term profits. Gamers specifically are already noticing the lack in quality over the last couple of years, and it’s only going to get worse. Fuck those companies, they just want to funnel the money to their shareholders.

Okay, I’m definitely not defending them because they’ve been annoying me a lot lately, but I personally did disagree with this bill.

Essentially it made it a pay-to-enter contest for AI, where the bar for entry was that you had to be a mega-tech-company to get to play with AI. Because we all trust Google and Facebook to play nicely. So startups wouldn’t be allowed to train AI models (more or less, wording is vague), but big tech is “trusted” to uphold the moral standards and can do so. So, yeah, glad the bill was vetoed.

Bullshit. First for you assuming I’m not well compensated for my work, and also assuming that compensation makes up for not seeing your family for weeks. Crunches are normal, mandated multiple weeks without a day off are not normal.

So they’re just announcing they have either incompetent product managers, executives who refuse to believe reality, or both.

I hope their developers all find better roles.

For record, as a developer, I have worked many a weekend in my career during crunch. I was never mandated to do so, and I always made up the time afterwards. Only once in my entire career was it 2 weekends in a row, and it’s because it was a big that was because of me.

+1 for the Bungie Era Halo franchises, IMO they have one of the best stories, and they honestly all hold up well. Plus you have so much that you can burn through with friends, and it has such deep lore you’ll be chatting for hours.

They could make so many moderate games that would sell amazingly if they just tried to… Make games instead of casinos. But no, profits must only go up, can’t have a flat year with only great success - they have to outdo themselves financially every year and squeeze everything

They love claiming they aren’t efficient don’t they? Shifts the blame to the workers and makes it sound like great ideas when they do layoffs. They never fucking listen to the customers.

They keep trying games that will appease everyone, so instead they’re boring and have no great story. They have gorgeous worlds that they fill with endless fetch quests and flat plotlines. Their entire business is telling gamers what they want instead of giving gamers what they want. They deserve to fail with how arrogant they are in this space.

And I haven’t even gotten to the fact that I don’t want to buy any games from them because they’re probably just going to delist them anyway!

I’ll say DA2 and Dragon Age Inquisition both have story modes, where combat definitely takes a backseat - way more so than Origins. The story only gets better too, and with DA4 coming out next month…

Yeah it’s one of those things that in theory it could make sense, it could be. However since we are humans, there does not exist any way that would not be morally abhorrent to some group of people. There’s zero way that in doing it this way wouldn’t destroy x group of people. And that’s why it can never be done. Eugenics is just too close to genocide.

You’re right, which is why I stopped. Telling them right now isn’t important. What I have is anger, anger that people in power allow this to happen, but directing it here doesn’t help. So directing it at people who could have done something is what I’m doing instead.
