Yup. Been very happy with it for almost 5 years. 🤓
When my wife sees all my interactions in Lemmy, she says that we’re just a bunch of nerds. Of course we are 🤣😂. That’s the beauty of this.

As long as you keep to FOSS apps that you KNOW are private (you can tell which ones call home), you should be OK. For example, Lemmy with a throwaway email address, Simplex for communications, Mull with a shitload of blocks, Orbot with RethinkDNS, and so on, you’re golden. Buy your phone in a different country, on Ebay with a throwaway account and a prepaid credit card.
There’s a lot you can do to remain truly anonymous.
Now, my threat model does not require me to go to those extents, but you get the point.
Absolutely not. Ever. It does a parity check monthly and then reboots, that’s that.
SmartTube is back up and working. Just update it.
Agreed, but it is working, you don’t HAVE to pay, and I can remain anonymous.
That’s good enough for me.

It is an issue caused by a change that YouTube made. Grayjay and Clipious were the only ones apps that kept working.
Yeah, that too, but for my work account that didn’t work for some reason, so I just use it over a browser.
Explain how this makes any sense. Using alternative clients effectively kills their access to the users, including, but not limited to, serving targeted ads.
If you believe I’m wrong, feel free to counter me with evidence.
I use Fedora 40 workstation (Gnome) , run everything (Outlook, OneDrive, etc.) on browser, Teams as a FlatPak, and use Only Office for Excel, which I then upload to One Drive.
So far it’s all worked like a charm.
Ok, this one will work, I got it for my son and he’s on ZorinOS. After programming the buttons (must be done in windows) he can plug and use the mouse, without drivers, on any computers (windows, mac, Linux, remote terminals) and preserve his customized button commands.
I got away with configuring on a windows 10 VM passing the USB port through.

Make sure you get the black one if you’re going to go this route, the white one is more expensive and it’s the exact same thing, not worth the extra money in my opinion.
For something relatively fast, I suggest you stick to Intel chipsets, and avoid realtek like the plague. As others mentioned, you can go with Atheros, but your speed will certainly suffer, as well as probably breaking the ability to put the computer to sleep with S3.
I understand you would rather go with 100% FOSS, but this carries trade-offs.
I’ve seen you commenting on each option given that “it’s too expensive”. To help us help you, what is your budget and the minimum DPI you would be comfortable with? Be mindful that some advertised DPI are just that, “advertised”.
“uninstall”? 🤔
Never mind the fact that paying for a license doesn’t guarantee it won’t break. In my experience, every Linux distro I’ve used has been much more solid than all Windows versions since Windows 8.
It’s different for all of us, for sure. Since my job has nothing to do with the public, I’d rather disappear as much as possible. I just have an adversity to giving away my info unless absolutely necessary.
I do the same. My picture is nowhere to be found anywhere in the web.
I am getting the same crap from the Republicans. Don’t get me wrong, I could care less regardless of party, but it’s ridiculous.
In my case, since I moved to a VOIP service for voice and text, I just keep adding these to the blacklist, and don’t hear from any of them again, but they do keep coming from other numbers.
Awesome. Fedora is my main driver (when i’m not distrohopping, lol). Thank you so much for sharing this. I’ll be taking it for a spin over the weekend.
Dude, the issue is not the Deck, it’s your router.
