Considering this is a temporary measure, I imagine not. Lemmy.world has been under constant attacks as the #1 Lemmy instance and it’s not going to stop just because bots can’t get in automatically anymore.
I was on reddit once, but now I’m not.
I’m also gk99@kbin.social and gk99@mastodon.world

Yes, but also no.
I didn’t play the Halo franchise until late 2015-early 2016, but I thought 3 and ODST were disappointing, and I stopped one mission into Reach. These days, Reach and 3 are my two favorite Halo games and ODST gets an honorable mention for its campaign. So what changed? In retrospect, it’s because they were running on a 360 with an ass framerate, ass resolution, and ass FOV with a weird crosshair that made me subconsciously raise my head and controller-based controls that I was bad at. They were uncomfortable for me to play on the hardware I had to run them on, and as soon as I had them with all that QOL improved, the experience was completely different.
This experience, along with plenty others, has shown me that it’s often not the game itself and could be several other factors, from the port and the platform to my expectations and my attitude. So while I’ve had a bunch of “disappointing” patient experiences, a good amount of them stopped being disappointing when I gave them another shot
That said, this was a terrible business move. Under no circumstance is giving viability to formerly unknown competitors a good thing. Reddit may still have the raw numbers, but the fact that Lemmy and Kbin are as usable as they are is a problem Spez created.
The people who develop lemmy get paid to do so, as stated by iirc Dessalines themselves.
I would put donating to those running instances at the highest priority, because without servers, we have nothing.
You should check with a doctor to see if they can help with your “I’m just an asshole unprovoked for no reason” problem.
Probably Duke Nukem Forever. I told myself that if it were ever $1, I’d buy it.
Then it was in the $1 tier of a Humble Bundle. Gonna be honest, still not really worth it, I don’t think. Never finished it, didn’t really think it was that fun.
And we’d still have poultry and fish in the end.
Not the worst thing that a tick could be spreading at all.
Sure, but we have a huge chunk of the country inhabited mostly by tumbleweeds and people with less-than-awesome education. Plus, the concept of Area 51 has been around so long and has been so prolific it’s been constantly referenced in the mainstream, from Scooby-Doo to Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater.
Ignoring something long enough and it will go away
This is quite literally how social media works. They rely on user engagement to succeed.
Of all the things to be guilty of these days, that’s a pretty decent one.
They can also afford to just sell at a loss if they want, similar to how Wal-Mart briefly sold games at $50 new instead of $60 as an incentive for people to buy from them instead of competitors.
This is kinda why I wish we had user-level instance blocking, there aren’t any popular instances that match my preferred blocklist and I don’t want to have to go out and request federation for everything I want to see. For example, the top sites I don’t want to see are lemmy.ml, lemmygrad, and exploding-heads, and while beehaw gets all three, they also block instances I don’t find problematic like lemmy.world.
So I ended up on lemmy.world and manually block all the stuff I don’t want to see, but it’d be loads easier if I could just ask not to be shown content from instances I want to avoid.
Imagine you don’t like your neighbor so you build a wall between you and them so you can’t see each other or interact.
That’s defederation.
Bro I’m already fat, this is making weight loss difficult.
According to the article @moon_crush linked, she broke a popularity record previously held by The Beatles with them.
My old person trait is dislike of video-form social media. I consider blaring my phone speakers at max volume disrespectful to those in my surroundings and generally annoying.
Hence why my social media of choice was reddit and is now lemmy+kbin. It’s mostly text posts and images.
I think my kbin.social account is a month old, didn’t make my lemmy.world account until Boost for Lemmy was announced though.
Maybe stop visiting a community called reddit???
But well, I haven’t even found a way to search for a specific community.
From what I understand, you kinda just search for stuff in the description. For example, if I search for cs@kbin.social, I won’t find it, I have to search “counter strike” and then it pops up.
I mean, yeah, considering “conservatives” generally only seem to care about taking rights away from others. Giving back is pretty radical of them.
