I can’t figure out the objection to this either. I see it as a huge step forward for tinkering and tinkerers.

You’re right. I guess it just feels like painting a bursting dam to me. And the shootings are weighing heavier on me. I’m glad we’re doing something positive. It’s just hard to appreciate when my mental image of a school is fear and tragedy. It’s probably a me thing
Please don’t take my comment as a light-hearted jab at the idea of school shooters. But rather, it’s a scathing commentary on fixing something like parking lots when children are dying. Maybe I didn’t do a good job of it but that was my intent.
Plus the kids will have trees to use as cover from shooters. I guess to avoid the packin’ heat Island effect?
Is that true? Interesting. I am sure the dead are enjoying all of their human rights to the fullest.
I am interested in your ideas and wish to subscribe to your newsletter.
Obviously we movie goers aren’t making the kinds of movies we want to see. We need to be the change and be the movie makers which we have no experience, skill or possibility of being. It’s so simple that it’s fucking crazy.
I went to a Bernie rally in 2015. It was by far (by a wide, wide margin) the best attended political rally we’d ever had in Idaho. It was at the college stadium and I chose to stand in the crowd nearest the podium. That was cool. But, I was standing in line for two hours and then the rally was about three hours. The standing floor at the rally was really crushed in so you don’t have personal space and you can’t really shift your weight and relax muscles. So, I recommend getting a chair if they’re available. I was getting so fatigued I was having a hard time enjoying it. I would totally do it again. But I’d head for seating.
In OPs case, I’d recommend groups that kind of cater to outcasts. I met most of my current friends through joining the local atheist group. Atheism, Satanism, humanism, whatever flavor suits best will probably have some furry friendly people at least. And then there’s usually kink groups and polyamory groups (even if you’re not poly just say you’re wanting to meet new people and you’ll be in a D&D campaign within an hour or so).
No, I’m not. That’s the thing. I know that a very small business (sub five employees) lives and dies by word of mouth and repeat business. Something that closing down and becoming another business with another name (even a derivative) will absolutely kill. On top of the IRS very likely having protections against this very scenario, starting a new business with a new license, and a new name, a new logo, and a new bank account, insurance, and a new domain name probably (in which case, software, accounts, POS, would be tied to the wrong domain email which is embarrassing if it’s not changeable), and does it need permits? They’re new too. Did you have an LLC? Lawyer fees and processing and time. All to save $50k in taxes which likely weren’t terrible if you’re that small.
It’s basically like starting a game of Civ or something similar and adjusting everything in the custom gameplay mode to make a few things a little easier in game. And then you get a few hours of playing in and realize you borked the game and would rather play a typical campaign.
If your business is doing so poorly that deducting a single person’s wage for the first year is worth that effort then…I guess yeah. Game away.
We’re a family here! I don’t know where these trust issues of yours come from…
Yeah, and like I’ve got DNS through PiHole on the same machine as HA. That particular machine doesn’t always want to come back up after power failure. And I hate going to the basement except to do laundry or bury the bodies. Having constant uptime is just useful.
At the same time, you’ve got a baked in UPS. I’m not sure what the normal power refresh cycle is on them compared to a laptop battery but it seems like it might be negligible?
Oh they’re given the military equipment. But the new cruisers they buy and then the cost to paint and modify them to win the Best Looking Cruiser Competition is pretty high.
My cat has hyperthyroidism and needs a pill twice a day. So I feed her 1/4 of a large can of wet food twice a day with the crushed pill mixed in. It’s just enough that she always finishes all of it so she gets all of her meds. And then always kibble out for snacking. Mostly snacking for her.
No but having been around kids before, these things might prevent PTSD.
Enshitification of all the things.
This is it. It’s why seats/stools look nice but feel uncomfortable after 20 or so minutes.
It’s rarely tonic even, almost always just soda.
