  • given the white-collar nature of his crimes, it’s likely he’ll end up in the camp

This guy is such a piece of shit and deserves much worse in my opinion. I looked into the case for a min just to enjoy some of the details of him being taken down.

One of my favorite moments was when he revealed that he truly has no spine (surprise! Lol): when he actually tried to obtain a pardon from the cheeto-in-chief, this is a direct quote from Menendez: “President Trump is right,” Menendez said in a statement. “This process is political, and it’s corrupted to the core. I hope President Trump cleans up the cesspool and restores the integrity to the system.”

    Rot in prison, shit-head🖕

  • I know this isn’t really a universal indicator, but for me it’s been watching the price of simple things like chips, candy, and soda ($3 for a 20 oz bottle?!?). All things that i enjoy occasionally but as the price of all these things continues to rise it becomes easier to say no. I was shocked to see the bagel place in town charging $15 for a sandwich on a bagel. Nobody seems to bat an eye though. I think I’m probably just getting gradually priced out of my town ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Of course I’m aware i don’t have to buy any of that stuff and i can cook and make food at home, and that’s what I’ve started doing. I may treat myself on occasion but i just can’t justify spending that much on stuff that didn’t used to cost half that. I’m probably just getting old and remember “back in my day” all too well, lol

  • Corners were cut and mistakes were made.

This is my assumption about nearly all modern tech. We’ve reached the point where it’s practically standard practice to release unfinished products and/or software. In many cases, it ends up being a particular person or small group of enthusiasts that end up finishing and polishing the product.

Not only that, but support for many tech products is shorter-term than ever. I was talking to a mechanic recently who was surprised to be informed by Alfa Romeo’s parts department, that they did not offer replacements for a particular part for the brake lines on a car that was less than 10 years old…and referred the mechanic to find a seller on eBay who makes them. There was indeed one company making the part and selling them on eBay. That was the aftermarket support, lol!

  • This is terrifying. Also another case where the use of clinical language really grinds my gears. Sheriff said the 25-year-old died from “mechanical and positional asphyxia”… i get that’s precisely what it’s called but it also seems to create this rift between:

    • a young man having a mental health crisis while in custody of police

    and

    • the police having direct responsibility for this outcome

It’s like: the guy was there, the cops were there, mechanical and positional asphyxia took place, the man died. A room full of cops and they can’t figure out exactly what happened? Jesus fucking Christ
