Have you considered a VPS?
I have one that is pretty basic but works very well for about $4US a month. Mine runs Ubuntu 22.

Damn. I thought it was me, but scrolling through Everything & Top Day is just filled with rage bait and doom news. I rarely find something uplifting. And I usually find myself more anxious after reading through them.
I really want Lemmy to thrive, that’s why I am here, but I used to be able to filter all that shit in reddit and still have a bunch of funny dumb simple happy posts. If I do that here I get no posts back…
Wow. That sounds awful. Sorry you had to love through all that for such a long time.
Took me a minute. Nice. Taking this with me. You can’t stop me.
I had this happen to me last year (kidney stone). Holy shitballs on crutches. It was the most pain I have ever been in. And I have had all sorts of injuries and surgeries. This topped it all by far far far. I actually passed out from the pain. I was in the ER with pain managing medication for about 6 hours and then 1 minutes to the next gone. Not like oh it’s receding… Gone like it was never there. And I felt 100% fine after. I felt embarrassed because I still had a bunch of doctors looking out for me and I was fine.
Oh and if you are a human with balls, the pain also radiates to this zone and it feels like someone is kicking you in the balls repeatedly with no rest between kicks. It suuuuucks.
And before you say ‘feels like labor’ naaaah I talked to several moms who have had many kids and they also agree. This is waaay worse.
Extra credit for correctly using affect!!!
I think the analogy is that it sets a precedent. Now the other companies see how you can pee in the pool and folks are either cool with it (buy) or are on the other end (not buy but meh). Now the pool standard is piss filled pool and we will never have a chance to get into a clean pool anymore.
If you want to take a swim you have to do it in a pissed soaked pool because we never complained or did anything about it.
Chipotles are jalapeños. They are just roasted.
You have my ax!
I have been using copilot inside VSCode for about a month. That thing is useful. It really does cut back on programming time. The help you get from this thing, although not 100% accurate, is mostly accurate enough to get you unstuck and keep moving. It is really useful. I have paid 1 monthl at 10$US. It is totally worth it for me and my usage.
I really hope I don’t have to start paying twice as much for the same experience.
Control is on my backlog list. Thanks for the writeup. Now I know what to expect.
Using cheats for 1 player offline games is 100% OK in my book. I am an adult with so much responsabilties and little time to game. Sitting for 2 hours frustrated on something and not progressing is just not my idea of fun. Nudging yourself through with the help of cheats, easy mode or anything else is totally valid.
I have done this with a few games. Disgaea games come to mind… I know most of the enjoyment of those games comes from the grind to level up and get stronger to then grind some more… But I just couldn’t make myself fight the same level 25 times to earn enough XP to upgrade so I memory edited the values just enough to simulate me grinding for 2 hours in 5 minutes. Not enough to break the game but enough to get me through the grindy parts.
And any offline 1 player game that tries that shit will get memory edited right away.
Of course I will always try to do it the intended way, as long as it’s not annoying to me.
I don’t believe this is a US problem. Dates do match with all the Trump nonsense but it happened pretty much worldwide. Look at UK, Australia, Philippines, Brazil, Mexico. All of them had the same divide in society with politics at the center. I think it’s social media and the attention-hungry algorithms that do not care about the side effects. That is what is pulling people apart. Spending hours a day in an indoctrination environment just because ‘clicks and ads and $$’. Laws to prevent this are waaaay too late. Damage is done. And what horrible damage these things did… What horrible damage these people did… And are still doing unchecked.
Demon Souls. Gadamn it’s good…
My dude! Thanks for sharing all of these. I don’t have a particular need and am able to buy myself games so I will leave for others who may not be as lucky as I am. But thanks for doing this!
Happy holidays!!!
Ok. This one I like. I felt the cozy scene. This is what art is about. Connecting to what you are seeing in a level that only you understand. That is why art is subjective. Only you know what makes you tick.
We should all strive for this level of rigor when understanding sources of articles online.
The world would be so much better.
That scene actually looks very real.
Here is a video on how they made it
Mate. Trusting a company not to shaft you when you have no alternatives is never a good idea. It is actually really bad.
Companies do not act towards the benefit of the customer. It is always towards a better bottom line, and those decisions many times do not have your best interest at heart. If you have no choices, the companies have no incentive to make your experience any better. (see Internet Explorer). Competition is always a good thing. It forces companies to be better. The key word there is forces because they will not do it on their own.
This is a discussion forum. Sometimes an obvious question sparks conversation well beyond the original topic. But someone needs to ask the question first. You don’t have to be rude. Just scroll right past.
Why are the ARR a bad idea for a VPS?
Yeah storage suck on mine but you can get a seed box for storage and run the apps in the VPS. But that’s another subscription.
