Yeah I’ve unsubscribed, his beef with Billy Mitchel and shift to a more cheater focus has just become too repetitive. Mine lasted less than a year. One of those one piece arm rest\supports got a crack and that ruined the stability.

Biden has long supported the system that allows it, prides himself on being able to find a middle ground with them, and though he talks about not going over the cliff has no long term plan for dealing with those that do, because again he believes in the system that allows them to want to drive off the cliff.

I believe I’ve stretched this metaphor about as far as it will go, but I’m going to try stretching it further.

There are actually two cliffs, fascism and climate change, even if we pull the bus away from one cliff we’ve still got the other in front of us and basically no one is even pretending to deal with that.

And to leave the broken bus scenario, I’m just going to say if you believe that a trump win will destroy American democracy, that we can’t defeat his corrupt, senile version of fascism then the next republican demagogue will have no problems.

That is some revisionist history, because he did not. He did better than any openly socialist candidate has in 100 years, but because of the rules of the DNC was not actually in contention at any point.

In this situation, there was a patient fighting with law enforcement and EMS was requested.

That’s the contention, that’s why they’re going to jail, there is no proof this man was fighting anyone. The police put him in a choke hold seconds after the encountered him then order paramedics to sedate him!

That this as a default in our system where they “just follow orders” and sedate people is troubling and I don’t know why you don’t understand that…

I get and appreciate what you’re saying, but I still have a problem with EMS being able to sedate people just walking home on the orders of the police.

It is literally insane to me that the police can just tell EMS to dose someone with ketamine. You might be able to convince me it was justify with a known dangerous person, in the process of fighting everyone off, maybe. But this case shows, all it takes is a cop convincing a willing EMS person to just do it and then we get dead innocent people.

Over-moderation will kill Lemmy instances. One of the reasons Reddit became as big as it did is due to very light-touch moderation verging on “absolute freedom of speech”. It was refreshing and ‘alternative’ compared to the increasing sanitisation of the Internet.

That’s the sub not the website, over moderation is a feature of some subs, just like lemmy instances. Just like reddit, if you don’t like it create your own, unlike reddit you can set an overall tone to your instance.
