Not The Onion@lemmy.world•United argues 'window seat' does not mean 'seat with a window'English
27·2 days agoAt one point in my career, they moved us to a long white room with no windows. (The reason this particular room on this floor did not have windows was that on the wall, where the windows normally would have been were large external letters on the outside of the building spelling out the original name of the building. So of course you couldn’t have windows behind the externally mounted letters.) And their attempt at making it bearable was to put giant vinyl stickers of somewhat cartoonish window scenes along the big long outside white wall. I did not enjoy working in that space.

1·4 days agoOddly, I am in the opposite situation (My house was built in 1943). New 200A breaker box, old wiring (2 different ages!). How much did your wiring cost you, and did you do it yourself?
My understanding is that either solution you are considering is good. The electrician I used even told me I could put my old breaker box on the other side of the house to do what you suggested, but the only real advantage is shortening some of the wiring runs. Would love some other opinions on this.

13·5 days agoI used to have a pretty sweet Thinkbook for work. It flipped around into a tablet and had a stylus in a little slot, and a solid casing and everything. The motherboard went bad. I told my company to remove the hard drive and let me fix the computer for myself. I even offered to pay for it. It was a nice machine. They said no. I sent it to IT and it went to the laptop graveyard.
