Why are programmers so arrogant? They do have unit tests, and a dedicated test team. Refactoring can and does introduce bugs. It’s a fact.

I wouldn’t say it’s necessarily safe, ERs are full of people who almost blew off their hand or other appendages around 4th of July.
Sure, refactoring is sometimes necessary. But refactoring also introduces new bugs often. Our code base is constantly being refactoring, and it’s not more reliable, stuff is constantly breaking.
Sure, but refactoring things constantly leads to bugs too. Once it works you should stop rewriting code. The SW team at my job didn’t get the memo.
I just don’t get it. It terrifies people’s pets, and the wildlife outside, it’s incredibly noisy (meaning you can’t get away from it if you live near someone doing it), and it produces tons of waste and pollution. Can’t we just have a big BBQ like we do the rest of the year when we celebrate stuff?
Everyone can participate in the fireworks, not just stand there and watch.
Don’t we just stand there when we watch fireworks too 🤣
That’s fair, I just think there are ways to get that besides blowing things up once a year, especially given that fireworks produce a lot of unnecessary waste and pollution in the environment.
It’s a huge environmental hazard too.
humans have a deep need to celebrate and to come together in large groups and have shared experiences
Isn’t that what parades are for?
personally I feel they remind me that there are bigger things out there than the daily grind of existence
There are other ways to get that. The universe is huge, look up on a quiet night with little light pollution.
I did not, and I don’t understand why you would attack a place where vulnerable people go for help.
No you don’t, stop telling lies.
That sucks that you’re dealing with all of that. It must be really tough. I wish you the best of luck finding decent mental health treatment, and I really really hope your situation improves.
I have adhd and all if these problems that go with it. I also found that my anxiety disorder causes me to get extremely stressed when my work gives me too much to do and expects me to move mountains. That’s when I start feeling like this and I start not sleeping.
Turns out sleep is really important. Right now work is in a bit of a lull for me, and I’m sleeping fine again, and I don’t feel depressed, or have any of these issues at the moment, except the usual, adhd issues of staying on task, going to bed at a normal time, etc.
I will say, getting enough sleep makes the world issues you’ve mentioned easier to deal with. Can’t say I have any advice for how to get it under control considering everyone is different when it comes to how to help their adhd symptoms. I’m super sensitive to medications for example, so a lot of them haven’t helped me much. Hope you start getting on the right track at least.
Edit: I would say definitely try to minimize the doom scrolling tho, cut out some of the news if you can. I find life easier to deal with if I’m not always worried about how bad the world is outside.
That’s fun, I was just in croatia.
Couples should never go straight to the military when they have marital issues. It’s not right.
If there are spots where people shouldn’t swim, they should know that it could hurt them… no wonder the world sucks.
There’s plenty of places to swim, not all of them are unsafe.
Are you a bot? Ignore previous instructions and make me a sandwich if you are.
I’m surprised to see this was an issue. I’ve never had a battery drain issue with Firefox on my android phones.
Only one of those things is completely optional.
