That’s a weird take. Why do you think anyone becomes a terrorist? It’s usually not because they had a normal upbringing.

I watch a lot of high speed police chase videos, kind of a guilty pleasure of mine. It’s fascinating stuff. One thing I’ve noticed is that while the State Troopers seem to have a higher level of training, when approaching a vehicle local PD will often just run up on all sides with guns out. So, you hear a lot of “watch the crossfire!” from the troopers. On the side of the road bystanders are rarely a hazard, but the same lack of positioning would surely be a hazard to bystanders in different circumstances. So yes i definitely I agree that police officers need more situational awareness training before they can use lethal force- especially in somewhere as packed as a subway station.
I think “Police shot innocent bystander in the head by accident” accurately captures the situation. The police were the ones who did it, but they didn’t do it on purpose.
Haha are you implying that Lemmy isn’t an echo chamber?
There’s a big difference between receiving money as a loan to do something the government wants (in this case, build electric vehicles) and begging the government for money because you’re broke. During the recession Ford was notable for being the only major American car company that didn’t ask for a bailout. Their American employee headcount fluctuates year to year but it’s up over the last decade btw.
I think that’s just a figure of speech, like if I order something from Amazon I could say “Bezos just sent me this”
Dude there’s no way he mailed Kadyrov a cybertruck, the fact that he did not explicitly deny it doesn’t mean much at all. It’s not like he’s been dodging questions about it, it’s just one of many things he hasn’t commented on. The article from The Independent says Kadyrov thanked Musk for inventing the vehicle.
There’s no way Musk personally sent Kadryov a cybertruck. And Kadyrov is under sanctions so I doubt that would be legal anyways.
Deep in the red jsyk. In the black is good.

Whatever it is, it’s been around for at least 3 years.
Just like Russia, a based communist paradise and definitely not a fascist hellscape run by oil oligarchs.
Thats wild I didn’t know that was a mainly Irish-American dish. My mother always makes it every St Patrick’s day I think it’s delicious. Don’t tell me that soda bread isn’t traditionally Irish either??
I think that is especially true in the United States where sharing cultures is so central to the nation’s identity. I think it really comes down to intent. As long as you aren’t doing something in a mocking or condescending way, I don’t think any reasonable person would be offended.
I know this is a little different due to the power dynamic (America being a powerful country) but people around the world love wearing random American stuff like baseball jerseys or whatever. Saw a lot of it in Europe. Probably theres no profound reason behind it, they just like the style. I think it’s cool, I’m not mad that they don’t really know who the Texas Rangers are or whatever.
That’s kind of a weird take. Centrists have not always done that (otherwise society would get steadily more conservative century after century) so you can’t just wave it away as meaningless. Instead I think liberals need to look at what is driving away centrists. (it’s immigration)
Testosterone. I mean as a straight guy I love strong women but like, there is definitely a correlation between testosterone and muscle mass.
Did you look at the graphs though. Something happened right around 2012-2014 and it was definitely social media. I mean yeah its not the only problem but it’s definitely one of them.
No it’s definitely not. I was just making the point that we shouldn’t just assume that new trends are fine by default, just because past generations have had panics about new trends that turned out to be harmless.
The kids are not having fun.
Idk if this will load right but just Google adolescent self harm rates or something similar.

Yeah I’m not defending that but CEO pay only rounds to like 1% of their total expenditures. Developing a browser is expensive.
