Given that Lemmy is largely populated by programmers, I assume they have done next to no exercise through their 20s and mostly sit hunched over in a chair all day. So now that they are hitting their 30s, they are paying the price for abusing their bodies.

You don’t need to be huge like Arnold, but find some way to move your body every day. While you’re young in your teens, 20s, and 30s find different and interesting ways to keep your body moving and build up strength, whether that be swimming, running, larping, lifting weights, finding a local exercise meet-up, local sports league, or walking to a park and using the little exercise machines.

A lot of the back issues will go away with more core strength and lifting things properly with your legs. If you can’t think of anything, then start by sitting up straight and tall in your chair using your core to stabilize yourself and see whether in a few weeks you can get through a half or maybe even full day without slouching. Anything is better than nothing!

It’s a regional thing. This is the first I’ve ever heard Stove Top referred to as stuffing rather than dressing (although it would be blasphemous to serve at thanksgiving).

I’ve never known dressing to be cooked outside the bird. You cook dressing by putting as much in the bird as will fit and then let the rest cook around the bird in the juices in the roaster.

That’s interesting, I didn’t realize that a photograph counted as part of the directory information. I figured that was why photos are included in the list of items on the parent consent forms sent out every year.

It was my understanding (from admin, teacher professional orgs, and teacher unions) that pictures on websites and social media need consent to be posted. So we were told that any student without a consent form had to be edited out or blurred on any picture posted anywhere.

That’s true while on the street or in a public park. That does not apply to students at a school function. There are laws protecting students in such a situation, which is why in the US, parents have to give permission for images of students to be published.

In schools, they normally have parents fill out a form giving consent to use a student’s picture. There should be a way to revoke that consent.

Yesterday, I saw an article about a church (shockingly in Fort Worth) that was raising money and giving grants for those needing to travel to different states for abortions.

One thing that tends to be overlooked is that the Californians and other people that move to TX tend to be hard R voters. In fact, according to the Dallas Morning News, native Texans voted for Beto 51-48 when he ran against Cruz, while people who moved here voted 57-42 in favor of Cruz.

Rural areas are very red and cities are largely blue. It was shocking to me that this was a church in Fort Worth, that city was a conservative stronghold through Obama’s presidency. It’s only been in the last few years that it has started turning purple and you could start to feel safe in a public space as LGBT.

There is massive gerry-mandering that helps keep R’s in power. For example, downtown San Antonio and downtown Austin were in a dumbell shaped district that extended down I-35 to water down blue votes.

IIRC, TX was one of the first states to enact early voting, which they recently expanded. We have 2 weeks to vote and polls are required to be open for at least 9 hours the first week and required to be open at least 12 hours the second week and final day of voting. Polls can be open on weekdays from 6 AM-10 PM with different hours on Saturday and Sunday, though typically polls tend to be open from 7 AM - 7 PM through the second week. It’s just infuriating that people won’t go early vote on their way to/from work. I’ve lived all over the state and in all major metro areas beside San Antonio and have never waited more than 10-15 minutes in line to vote. Through most of the day, there is no line at all at polling places until the very last day when the procrastinators come to vote.
