But it was 3D!
Yes. I feel like I’m finally sorting between the addiction I developed to “content” on Reddit and the interaction that makes sites like this great.
The messenger and stardew valley are perfect steam deck games. I suspect hades is too but I put too many hours into it on PC before I got the deck.
I don’t think Twitter and Reddit are going to die quickly. They have user bases that they can monetize and bots to flood content. They were shitty enough that enough of left and gave a nice boost to federated platforms. That boost will grow every time those legacy platforms alienate their users by treating them badly. Like windows and Linux.
There will always be some abuse of services. It just turns out to be negligible most of the time. The benefits will far outweigh the losses. Also - people shop for services all the time. If they want to move to a province that has better benefits, that would be normal and smart. If the program ends up being mostly federal, this won’t be as much of an issue as things will be more standardized, though.
This makes sense. By now a full 3-4% of all data on the internet is probably Linux help forums so it’s probably highly represented in its dataset lol
The unintended consequence of repeated attacks on net neutrality is that so many more people understand what net neutrality is and won’t fall for this bs.
Teacher of 20+ years checking in. Schools only continue in their current state because of the hard work and good will of education workers. It’s not an endless resource though. If governments keep ignoring problems in schools, they will collapse as people can’t afford to work there anymore because of the financial or mental health costs.
The pendulum is swinging back towards the monopoly model that destroyed cable. Time to dust off the old Jolly Roger and teach streaming an old lesson of what happens when you price gouge people.
Gaben is one of the few people in tech I trust to resist the money MSFT would be willing to throw at something as successful as valve. I mean - they’re the closest thing to a trustworthy company as you can find these days.
This makes me nauseous.
I’ve been using Bing more and more since their openAI integration. I don’t have to scroll through a page of sponsored results to get the one I’m looking for anymore. It’s nice.
Mad Max would at least be the most metal way to dystopia lol
Ok cool- sounds like a good move. Thanks for the explanation.
As a newly converted Fedora user, has this x11 been an issue or is this simply an aesthetics/preference thing?
As an elementary school teacher, “the hard way” is the overwhelming choice of kids. I don’t think it changes that much when they grow into adults.
School will never be as interesting as a phone. Your teacher will never be as entertaining as an influencer. Your textbooks will never be as entertaining as your feed. What families and teenagers have to understand is that education is a choice. If you want to learn, you’ll probably have to put your phone down for long periods of time to actively listen and learn. It’s difficult. It tires you out. It’ll frustrate you. But you will eventually learn.
Then again - when I look at home prices and inflation, I understand young people’s feelings of futility.
Good luck young people. I’m really rooting for you to figure this out.
Well…they had to pay off the politicians that would write these nice little laws for them so it’s not all free, right!? /sarcasm
As an elementary teacher, add to that the necessity of convincing a bunch of children that reality is ordered rather than chaos, and then make them perform that “order” for other parents, teachers, administrators, etc. It’s mentally exhausting.
