I blame the streaming boom and then password sharing crackdowns.

I put it in an eWaste pile which I hope is sending it off to be “recycled”. There was no saving my palm pre or touchpads.
It’s hard sometimes, I needed a new laptop to get a better CPU for video encoding. I now have my older laptop, which is actually a hand me down, so it’s old, but it’s going to replace my even older laptop that’s running a 2nd gen i3. So that’s going to be the one I will likely bring to an eWaste site as it will no longer serve me. Sure I could keep it around as a spare, you never know, but I really doubt that will happen.
All my laptops are running some form of Linux, except one. That’s used to run turbo tax (I know) as the windows software is typically much more affordable over the website version. So that saves me like $50 each year.
Anyway, eventually I’ll need to toss my old pixel xl as the battery only last about 45 minutes and I think lineage isn’t able to update it, I didn’t check the last few months. I was planning to have it be my kids first tablet, but a battery replacement is around $75 I think… Just seems not worth it.
My trouble is battery health of older phones and laptops. I typically purchase scratch and dents from Dell outlet and for phones wait for the battery to only make it 4hours before it needs a charge.
This might be unique to each parent as well. Some children do require extra attention and it is very difficult to managed work time in.
With most schools letting kids out around 3pm it’s not easy to keep the children occupied before the work day is finished. This leaves parents either on a work call with kids heard in the background or working late at night al week.
Think of it as if the person is a caretaker and a full time employee at your company. It’s basically two full times just that happen to overlap during the day.
I think calling it a privilege is really unfair but if the people are missing work and not meeting deadlines then management needs to step in and work out a solution. Work life balance is hard.
That picture looks like his on the set of Enterprise.
Use a custom launcher. I use Flauncher and my home page only has jellyfin on it. No ads ever.
My Ring app is going crazy the last few weeks about people saying drones are flying around. I’m sure it’s normal…
I popped on the SNES with my Super Gameboy cartage for a visiting kid that’s like 7 and he was amazed playing Super Mario World 2. It was a whole new game for him. I wish I could get a cheap working gameboy for kids today, the used market is scam now with the prices people are doing.
Smart watch will be what I get my kid instead of a smartphone. Its basically the modern day bepper in my eyes.
You can theme Kodi to look pretty close to Netflix, but not out of the box. As my library doesn’t update too often, I can live with the slower refresh as it’s a sacrifice I am willing to make for the ability to play everything in my library.
Really, for the moat compatibility, a PC with a wireless keyboard is going to 100% of the time work with subtitles.
I switched to Kodi on my Chromecast 4K to fix most of my video playback issues. However, I still have a few cases where Kodi can’t decode the subtitle track, so I use subtitle edit to extract out the srt. Also, getting Kodi to always play subs is tricky, so I remapped the up key on the remote to always enable subs.
Kodi is also slower to show library updates on start, maybe a minute or so later and then it’s don’t with the sync. Maybe I didn’t setup something correctly… Anyway, give it a try. On my Sony with google tv the jellyfin app is great.
Have you tried Kodi?
Good thing banks use sms for two factor codes
I love that we can reencoding the 4k HDR to 1080 while we retain the HDR color information. Looks great to me while saving a ton of space.
If it just language add the audio track to one of the mkvs. Ignore me I see your episodes are different cuts.
I found using Kodi helped resolve video codec support in my case. It was for AV1 nlon the Chromecast 4k, which doesn’t support AV1, it seems to mostly work for smaller AV1 encodes. I guess it is using software decoding.
Maybe the switch for me would require staging on a burner pixel that supported. I have a lot of shopping apps, that I may not need, but need some time on the testing phone to make sure everything works before taking the deep dive.
This is also how I made the switch off windows. Stagged it on a space older laptop to see what’s what.
I’ll get there…
This is a requirement for Immutable Distributions, not that Mint is… But others.
They will then ask for a third term.
