They’re even the right colors for my 6.5lb spotted lady and 14lb orange torpedo
It was a joke. I feel like we’re all living Brazil 2.
Holy crap! I just got used to thinking that its been over a year since the blackout… but that shocking realization was a year ago now. Thanks, everyone!
Wait, those weren’t made as a prop for Brazil 2?
I tend to wear jersey knit, short sleeve polo shirts. They feel like wearing a t-shirt, give me plenty of room in the neck (I hate anything remotely tight around my neck or wrists), look normal tucked or untucked, fit in in most professional situations, and can be upgraded with a sport coat if I absolutely have to. I just have to be careful to find ones that don’t have the ribbed (itchy) hems on the arms - I want a wide open arm hole. My go to brand just added them so I have to find something new.
I have never found a comfortable suit jacket or sport coat, I don’t think they exist for me.
I don’t have much advice for pants, I don’t have many sensory issues as long as they’re not binding. I usually wear wide-leg levis and keep a pair or two that are in nice enough condition for most business casual circumstances. Then I have a couple pair of slacks that I just had to find by trial and error for the other (rare) occasions.
We were born into a system that requires that we make money if we want to participate. Hopefully the means of doing so has at least some desirability beyond that, even if only “this line of effort seems interesting enough that I wont constantly fantasize about stepping in front of a fast moving bus, and thus ruining its driver’s money making obligation too.”
It all becomes normal after a while but I still stress about the things that could take it away. Treefalls during big storms and fire hazards and places where people might trip and gutter overflows and was that a carpenter ant and and and.
A now, ten years later, we’re doing some minor remodeling and a lot of those money stresses and fears of the unknown are coming back.
I use my post/comment history (and saves) as a way to know what threads to go check in on later. And I get a kick out of seeing a lot of upvotes and dislike seeing anything in negative territory. But I don’t have votes in mind when I post.
The Leading Edge Model D. An 8088 from the late 80s that we got 3rd hand
It had 2 double density 5.25" floppy drives and 256K of RAM! If I let it warm up 10 minutes it could even run Print Maker Pro.
I stopped using a case a couple phones ago. Haven’t broken anything yet and my last phone was 7 when it stopped getting security updates and I had to move on.
My wife always uses a case and screen protector and has still broken more than one.
Were they monkey-fighting snakes on a Monday-Friday plane?
In simplest and most idealistic terms: The Senators speak for the needs and culture of their state. They make the functional apparatus of the republic.
Congress people of the house speak for their constituents and give us the representative democracy part. The courts speak for the law and maintain the “constitutional” part of our constitutional democratic republic. The POTUS should speak for the nation and serves and a check and balance against the others.
Not usually, but Chris Cornell hit me hard. I had no connection other than loving his music and everything he did for Seattle musicians in the late 80s and early 90s, but I still think about it.
There’s an old saying in software development: The only thing worse than no optimization is premature optimization.
It can be a true statement (if a bit hyperbolic), but far too many people seem to think it means “don’t worry about performance until the end.”
You should pay attention to code optimization throughout development and take time to solve rough spots periodically. You just have to know that some optimization strategies can become tech dept by gumming up on-going development.
I was excited for IPv6 in the 90s.
Nice way to chain unrelated features together to make something more than it was before. I’m bookmarking this video in case I’m ever asked “what is hacking.”
Using Kagi you can go into personalization settings and block any site. Or boost/lower its rankings or pin it so it’s always on top if it has relevant results.
Spicy food never had an effect on my stomach until one day in my late 30’s. Now there’s a fuzzy threshold where I’m OK, but there’s a limit. A whole serving of my favorite bulgogi is always too much.
