I can forgive them for Mali because she was an orphan given as a gift a long time ago and was too old to move already. But asking for a replacement elephant is inexcusable.

I daresay one of the reasons Mali died is because of stress from being lonely
Obesity has been her problem for decades, so not surprised that she died of heart issues. Idk why she was obese, though. Ino-overfeed ba siya? Not enough space to burn those calories? Kinda shit job by our vets there, although nothing personal kasi I know they loved her dearly.
