Got to agree with the conclusion of the review, while this seems like a decent offering (and I personally like the “retro” look), for Є400, you might as well get a A55 with a much better screen and probably longer security support (Android OS updates aren’t that important these days).
But the A55 doesn’t have a headphone jack, this can be a game changer for some.
I had to import a xperia 1V because the offering for high end phone with 3.5mm jack and an SD card slot is pretty much non-existant where I am (Canada).
While I am a big supporter of having the headphone jack (I see no reason to have another device requiring charging), I feel like this is one smartphone feature that unfortunately doesn’t stand a chance to survive in the future (I think SD card support has a somewhat better chance, but I could be wrong).
But yes, the headphone jack is a good differentiator relative to the A55.
I am in Canada, from where did you import it?
In 2021 I ordered from mi4canada, they were legit at the time, shipped in about a week
I also ordered from mi4canada. No issue here with them
This range of Xperias continues to be the best buy Android phone for years now.
Except a pixel can run graphene.
Xperias can run Sailfish OS :)
Hadn’t heard of that, looks like a great option on xperias.
It’s tragic the 1 VI Is a Europe only release. I was looking forward to picking it up in the US.
I pre ordered from Amazon.de and shipped to the US. I know I’ll be missing a lot of 5g bands with t mobile, but I live in a major metro so I’m not super worried about coverage.
On the One hand I live in a major metro. On the other hand I have family out in bumblefuck middle of nowhere. So I’ve gotta have the US only bands.
Ah yea same. I’m hoping someone smarter than me figures out how to enable us bands like they did with the international 1 V, otherwise I’ll just tether off of the wife’s phone.
Man this looks so good, but I’m not sure if I’m shooting myself in the foot with the camera and the 60Hz display. I’m just looking for a reasonable midrange phone that still has a headphone jack that’s not whack in any sense.
Pixel 7a, A55, Nothing 2a and Moto Edge 50 Fusion all look nice and probably better, if it wasn’t for the headphone jack that I want to keep to connect to various audio periphery as a musician.
Then you have the Oneplus Nord CE 2 5G which is already two years old.
Or the Xiaomi Redmi Not 12 S, which looks amazing for the price, but I’ve read that their UI pushes you ad. Wtf could you fucking not.
Addendum: Shopping for a decent midrange phone has never been so frustrating like these days. Everything gets more expensive while the phones loose features (just look at the telecam on the xperia 10 VI compared to the V)
It’s plastic and it has 21:9 still. Can someone explain to me what the appeal is?
It’s cheap. They pass on the savings from using plastic on to you.
21:9 is ultrawide, which obviously has its appeal for some, even though I myself use 19,5:9 and like itThank you, I didn’t check the price and I recalled Xperia as being expensive phones
I still don’t see why I’d pick this over a pixel but to each their own
21:9 is lovely in my opinion
