It’s always annoyed me that you see the recommendation to get a “side hustle” to get ahead… when in reality you need that “side hustle” just to afford basic cost of living. At that point it’s not a hustle, it’s literally survival.
Side note: I saw a post / tweet / comment somewhere that pointed out how depressing the phrase “cost of living” is when you think about it. I wish I could remember it verbatim because I often do think about that phrase and get a bit sad.
In short: Nearly 9 per cent of workers aged between 20 to 24 are working multiple jobs – more than any other demographic

“A lot of people my age are hustling, but a lot of it’s sort of unavoidable,” she said.
“We need to hustle in order to pay rent, pay food, and just like survive out here.”
Gotta contribute something, somewhere. But there should be no full time job that doesn’t pay someone enough to pay rent and eat and have a little pocket money.
Can’t free load, but can’t need 2 jobs just to buy groceries either.
It’s time to end compounding profits
Maybe I’m crazy but for 40h a week I need to be getting ahead somehow, not just subsisting and padding out someone else’s retirement portfolio
