This game is amazing and stunningly beautiful even on older hardware. It runs surprisingly well on my older gaming laptop. The game really encourages me to try different things too. I’ll be playing this for a while still, much to do.
Next up also picked up on sale though is Outer Worlds, I’m excited for that.

I’m ashamed to admit how much time I spent playing poker in RDR2. I would settle in with a case of beer and play that shit for hours. What a great game, Arthur is the man.
Haha I do the exact same thing. “Time to start completing some of these story quests… Oh look, there’s poker at this saloon.” Rinse and repeat.
Favourite game of all time. Gorgeous looking and jaw dropping plot. Only complaint is I find the gunfights a bit samey.
I would count RDR2 as the last great AAA game we will see for a long time. Every thing else is eathera rushed peice of dogshit that needs a million patchs to work or is an indie open world survival game with zero content.
I think RDR2 is an amazing game but I don’t agree with the rest of your statement. I think there are a lot of games out there that are very meaningful to people. I really like Street Fighter 6, as an example of a AAA title that isn’t “dogs hit”. No hate on your perspective but it’s OK to relax and take in what people make, not set a big expectation of what you think a AAA game should be.
Bugs on release is a fair criticism, but games have gotten incredibly more complex, quickly, since the 64 days.
Such an amazing game. The scope of the world!
It was the second game I played after getting back into gaming during the pandemic, and it’s not an exaggeration to say it’s sort of spoiled me for other games.
I don’t think we’ll see it’s like again for a long time.
Every now and again i try to get into it,but i just can’t get over clunky controls to immerse myself. I know if i could just endure few hours probably it would be worth it, but just can’t. So little time for so many games.
It is so worth it. I’m not really bothered by clunky controls personally at this point as I just feel like if you are playing with controller then most AAA titles are clunky to control at this point. But I do absolutely see where you are coming from and could even see the argument that RDR2 is a bit worse in that regard than most.
But holy hell is it worth it. I really think that it is the deepest game I have ever played. World building, story, character writing, cinematography, humor, self awareness, difficulty and fun. Its absolutely phenomenal, and I had high expectations going in.
Please do yourself a favor and push through the control schemes. There’s so much to love there.
I’m so envious of your ability to experience Arthur and the gang for the first time around. Such a brilliant game, enjoy!
I also recently got RDR2 on sale. Definitely worth the wait.
Once I got over the slow controls, it grabbed me for 200 hours :)
Same, but I’m maybe a little disappointed in how much horse riding I’m doing…
Man I’m bothered by how fun this game can make riding a damn horse. I care about her a lot more than some boosted convertible. I missed the suggestion in the beginning of the game that I wasn’t meant to keep the draft horse but fuck that he climbs mountains like he’s from Skyrim.
What I started doing if I have to cross the entire map and don’t wanna ride the whole way is just plop down, set up my tent, and fast travel from there.
If you have to ride your horse you can set a waypoint and turn the cinematic camera on. It’ll basically auto-navigate for you and looks cool while you’re doing it.
When you upgrade Arthur’s tent (after first upgrading Dutch’s), you unlock fast travel.
I unlocked fast travel and don’t even use it
I’m still confusing Outer Wilds and Outer Worlds.
I’ve played the spaceship one but not the ehhhhh — well… not the rpg one. That’s Worlds! They came out around a similar time too. Very confusing.
