To paraphrase the guidelines from another site:
Throwaway accounts are ok for sensitive information, but please don’t create accounts routinely. Lemmy is a community—users should have an identity that others can relate to.
IMO creating a new account every time you post something is bad form and pollutes the fediverse
For good faith questions, I’ve got a few that I’ve been meaning to post to !discuss@discuss.online, we appreciate good discussion. The community’s been a little quiet but I’m going to put some work into it. I do specify “good faith” just because it doesn’t need to become another “here’s my ‘unpopular’ opinion that is actually popular and i want validated” or “here’s why I hate <minority>”. If you’re going to post bad-faith questions, or want to skirt the lines of what’s appropriate, that will make my life harder as admin and that’s considered a bannable offense 🙂
There’s also !AskUSA@discuss.online for US-specific questions. We generally avoid politically-charged topics because there’s better places for those, but questions that aren’t just “Why does Trump suck?” might be a good fit.
Here’s a sample of a few recent popular !AskUSA@discuss.online posts if they pique anyone’s interest:
Yep, it runs on Lemmy also and federates just as you’d expect

We welcome new users! We’ve got a signup process to keep out spam, but it’s really basic. You just have to answer 3 questions and not have it be obviously AI slop. We’re generally pretty quick about approving new users, and if we’re not for some reason you can ping me, @jgrim@discuss.online or @lazyguru@discuss.online.
We’ve got a welcome thread to point you in the right direction if you’re new to the discuss.online and/or the Fediverse: https://discuss.online/post/16318079. If chat is your thing, we’ve also got a chatroom at https://matrix.to/#/#online.discuss:discuss.online
Lastly I’ll plug the !AskUSA@discuss.online community that I help mod as well. I just posted the weekly How was your week in the US? thread and asked how many geese everyone thinks they could take on.
Instance-agnostic links:
Did you intend to make the community locked to only moderator posts btw?
It was a fan theory that was actually confirmed IIRC, but the Seanchan drawl is equivalent to a Texan accent.
Close enough, you’re cool. Here’s the actual list though (wiki link):
It depends on where you sleep. Basement vs upstairs can make a huge difference at the same thermostat setting. I keep mine set to be between 19°C and 25°C and don’t have trouble sleeping.
Speaking of which, anyone else use Home Assistant / Z-Wave?
My only question is “What are the four essential freedoms of free software?”. If they can list them I know they’re alright
Money doesn’t buy happiness, but lack of money is a roadblock to happiness
We’ve got a PBF community here on Lemmy:
I’ve been posting new strips as they’re posted, and old strips daily at !smbc@midwest.social
I’ve been posting the strips over at !oglaf@midwest.social if anyone’s interested in seeing them via Lemmy
There’s a Lemmy community for it too: !xkcd@lemmy.world
We do not talk about the Take2 Scam often referred to as KSP2
Is there some background reading on this? I’ve never played much KSP, so have no idea what would be bad about KSP2
You can probably get your instance admin to ban any bot accounts that aren’t being honest, which is also a step up for Reddit.
I’m guessing you’re also @ask_lemmy@lemmy.world. You should really not create a new account every time you post. It’s one thing to move to a new identity every few months or something for privacy reasons, but for every post is a bit much.
