Louisiana GOP Gov. Jeff Landry has declared a state of emergency due to a police officer shortage.
Landry’s executive order issued Thursday lifts limits on how many new employees Louisiana sheriffs can hire and on payroll increases for their departments.
Landry, who previously had a career in law enforcement, said that police departments in the state are experiencing record-low employments “resulting in increased crime and less public safety.” As of July, sheriff’s offices statewide were down 1,800 deputies, Landry said.
Is this just political theater or is this guy planning to recruit brownshirts into the police force?
This is somehow reminiscent of how the nazis came to power, including the milktoast reporting by mainstream media. If they continue to inject their brand of fascists into the system they’ll slowly gain more and more power and win.

Yep we are in the middle of a full on fascist surge, and the reprehensibles are gathering their troops. It’s going to get really bad soon and no one seems interested in actually addressing this.

Just because we are pro 2A does not mean we have any obligation to defend you. I have no intention of risking my life or the lives of my family to save others. My firearms are there to protect me and my family.
You have the same rights available to ensure your own safety. If you choose not to take agency for your own safety then that choice and its consequences are yours and yours alone.
I’m sure you’re neighbors will appreciate your well reasoned choice to ignore them and they totally won’t firebomb your house and take the guns from your toasty warm hands.
Your logic seems very flawed.
- They currently don’t know I have guns.
- If a situation arises where guns are needed, I am equipped to survive (hence the guns), while they are not (I.E. No guns).
- If it is eventually known that I have guns the remaining fearful wounded neighbors probably won’t want to attack a someone who has guns and neutralized a threat which they could not.
But it is better to have many guns and not need them, than have no guns and need one. I would encourage my neighbors to buy guns so everyone was prepared.
